Guys and Dolls Presented By Barrow Operatic and Dramatic Society.
Following a fabulous trip down the yellow brick road and a musical extravaganza through the decades in 2023, BODS is excited to bring Guys and Dolls to life at The Forum this May.
Guys and Dolls is a story of luck and love, following New York gamblers Nathan and Sky in their quest to win bets and make money through setting up floating dice games. Meanwhile, dancer Adelaide wants nothing more than to marry Nathan, her very, very long term fiancé of 14 years! Sarah, who is Sergeant of the local mission and believes that gambling is a sin, surprises herself by falling in love with none other than Sky.
This fantastic production is filled with show-stopping tunes and lively dance numbers, which will get your toes tapping and the boat rocking!’
Florence: the lesser known life and legacy of Florence Nightingale
This one-woman-performance of original song and storytelling shines a light on lesser known aspects of Florence Nightingale’s life and work, to question why Florence’s extraordinary and wide ranging achievements are so often overlooked. It celebrates Florence as a ground-breaking statistician, connecting Florence’s work in the 19th century with the issues we continue to face today.
Louise Jordan lives in the New Forest and is a songwriter and performer with ten years’ experience touring the UK & Europe. Self-accompanied on guitar and keyboard, Louise is a former secondary school teacher with an MA in Human Rights and has released six recordings gaining national radio play on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show & Radio 4.
