Dalton Carnival is always a wonderful event, packed full of music, laughter, delicious food and of course the fabulous parade through the town.

It brings everyone from Dalton (and the surrounding areas of course) together for a really fun day out. It’s colourful, vibrant and the party atmosphere really brings the town to life.

But no Carnival would be complete without its Queen, so the call has been sent out, and the hunt is now on to find Dalton’s Carnival Queen for this year’s extravaganza.

Applications for this year's Dalton Carnival Queen (and her entourage) have now opened, but don’t hang about, because all applications must be received by Thursday March 24th.

The Queen should be aged between 12 and 16 years old.  Applicants for Ladies in Waiting should be aged 10 – 12 and princesses/ page boys 5 – 9 years old.

The Queen shall be officially crowned by the Mayor of Dalton at the end of May.

Dalton Carnival committee's secretary, Val Robinson, said: "All of the entourage will be spoiled with new outfits and they will be pampered in readiness for their great day in June.

"We have had a great turnout over the last few years and the weather has been really kind to us so we are hoping for another great day this year."

Dalton carnival takes place on June 11th this year and its theme is Transport through the Ages.

Good luck to all those who apply.
