Boredom Busting Ideas In Bolton For Summer 2012

It's a common theme for the Summer holidays. Children look forward to them with a fervent desperation from Christmas onwards, whilst the parents look ahead with dread, searching for something to keep the little ones entertained for long enough to get some peace and quiet.

Well, this doesn't have to be the case, as a resident of Bolton, as there is so much going on. There really is no excuse to have bored children running around your ankles. These activities will make them happy and, as a consequence, yourself.

So take a look at what's going on.

Seymour Road Nursery have an excellent Holiday Club going on this Summer between the 23rd July and the 31st August. The club is for children aged 5-11, and activities will include an Olympic-themed week with mini-Olympic events, medals and a closing ceremony, grass sledging at Bibby's farm, and cupcake baking. For more information, contact them, they'll be happy to help.

Bolton Lads & Girls Club will also be hosting a Summer Holiday Fun Club, open from 8am until 6pm for any young person aged 8 and up. For more information, take a look here.

Over at Deryl Whittakers Academy Of Dance, there will be a summer school for those interested in performing arts. It's a fantastic opportunity for children to learn all aspects of putting on a show, from the dancing and singing, to the backstage roles required. For more information, click here.

It's an incredible year for Sport in the UK, with the Olympics, EURO 2012, and Wimbledon, and Bolton Arena are encouraging you to take part in sport with your children in order to lead a healthier lifestyle. There is something for everyone to take part in, old or young, amateur or expert, so have a read ofthis to find something that suits you.

Or, for something more specialised, why not take up a new hobby, and play a round of golf (or several) at the Old Links Golf Club, where there is an excellent children's membership function, allowing them to get out on the course too.

With the weather being so rubbish, you may want to find something you and the whole family can do indoors, and at the Albert Halls, there are plenty of excellent shows that everyone can enjoy.

Or, if the weather does improve, why not have a staycation in the UK and go camping. A one-stop shop for all your outdoor needs, Campcraft have a great product range, years of experience, and incredible customer service.

For a great summer treat, why not make a visit to Holden's Ice Cream, in Egerton. After all, who doesn't love ice cream? With a unique range of flavours, plus all the old favourites, there's something for everyone.

These are just a few ideas. For many many more events, from our members and in the local community, check out the events page on thebestof Bolton, located here, where there are literally hundreds of things to do.

And have a great Summer.
