Welcome to
The Nantwich Museum
The story of Nantwich's fascinating history is brought to life at Nantwich Museum situated on Pillory Street in what was once the Public Library standing on the site of a former gaol.
The museum's galleries present the history of Nantwich, including Roman salt making, the Great Fire in Nantwich in Tudor times (1583), the Battle of Nantwich (1644) during the English Civil War, and the local shoe and clothing industries.
There is a cheese-making exhibition, dedicated to demonstrating how the county's famous cheese has traditionally been made and sold around the floral market town of Nantwich, also the Joseph Heler meeting room, which houses a collection of maps.
Next to these is the Community Gallery, where small exhibitions are staged, followed by the magnificent, prize-winning, Millennium Gallery, which provides the perfect home for a diverse programme of temporary exhibitions.
Admission is free.
(Donations are always welcome)
Opening hours are 10:30am to 4:30pm Tuesday to Saturday, closed on public holidays.
