‘Hedda is bored, and when Hedda is bored, she is dangerous…’
A fresh, new, and exciting stage adaptation of this classic drama by visiting Midlands-based theatre company, Here To There Productions, comes to Exeter's Barnfield Theatre as part of their 27-date UK Tour.
Centred around the character of Hedda, playwright Henrik Ibsen’s story is as relevant today as ever – a powerful woman who feels trapped by the expectations of those around her. But when she tries to take charge of her life, it begins to spiral out of control and bad things start to happen. This is two hours of pure drama and dark humour.
Andrew Whittle (the producer and director of Hedda) has written a bold new version of the classic play, remaining faithful to the original plot, but up-dating the language a little to make it more accessible to today’s audience.
With a cast of 7 professional actors, a beautiful set and immersive soundscapes, the world of Hedda is brought vividly to life for audiences.
'Hedda’ will be performed at The Barnfield Theatre, Exeter from April 30 - May 4 at 7.45pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on Sat 4.
Hedda has received rave reviews from audiences:
"One of my all-time favourite theatre experiences"
"We thought it was superb in every aspect – acting, scene set, costumes. It was one of the best theatre productions we have seen for some time and you gave us a thoroughly enjoyable evening."
"The script adaptation was brilliantly done, making the text and plot accessible to modern audiences [...] the performances from all the actors were up there with some of the best I've seen, a very highly talented cast, [it] gripped the audience, made us laugh, surprised [and] entertained us."
