Elgar Festival 2024
  • Worcester Cathedral, 8 College Yard, Worcester
    WR1 2LA
  • Wednesday 29th May - Until Sunday 2nd June
Embodying the ethos ‘Elgar for Everyone’, the Elgar Festival engages with those of all ages and backgrounds in music and legacy at a number of integral venues of both historic interest and personal significance to the composer, including Worcester Cathedral and Guildhall, Huntingdon Hall and Henry Sandon Hall.

Lauded as ‘Critic’s Pick’ in both The Guardian and The Times, the Elgar Festival is an annual live celebration of the life and music of Worcester’s most famous son and Britain’s great composer, Sir Edward Elgar (1857–1934). Set in and around the composer’s home city, the event comprises concerts given by the resident English Symphony Orchestra (ESO) under their Principal Conductor and Festival Artistic Director, Kenneth Woods, with guest artists including Zoë Beyers and Esther Abrami and featured composer, Steve Elcock.

Highlights include a performance of the incomparable Violin Concerto by Elgar with the English Symphony Orchestra and Zoë Beyers as soloist and 'Cockaigne' Ovt.; a Family Concert with TikTok sensation, Esther Abrami, and hosted by Julian Lloyd Webber; music of today with a discovery of the music of Steve Elcock; two choral concerts, music for strings, and in late-night Club Elgar, a journey through the blues and cinema-inspired arrangements.

Concerts and events continue throughout the day. Please refer to the website for details of the programme, venues, and timings.
