The county's Easter fun starts with Aberdeen Play Forum, who are holding an Easter Eggstravaganza on 1st April at Union Terrace Gardens. Children can decorate their very own Easter egg and roll them down the hill.

You'll find that the local libraries are bursting with activities for children over the holidays, with a number of free craft activities organised for the weekend. Visitors to Haddo Country Park can take part in the annual Egg Hunt with Oldmeldrum Rotary Club. The event is being held on Sunday 31st March and kids can enjoy egg decorating, egg rolling and other activities as well as the Egg Hunt.

Over at the Maritime Museum, primary school aged children can try their hand at a number of activities including making t-shirts, learning more about chemical reactions and discovering the world of marine mammals. The sessions take place on various dates and times between 4th and 12th April.

And of course, no Easter would be the same without finding your local Cadbury Easter Egg Trail and getting your hands on a chocolate prize. Aberdeenshire is fortunate to be surrounded by National Trust properties who are organising Egg Trails - check out the activities at Castle Fraser, Leith Hall, Haddo House, Drum Castle and Crathes Castle.

As normal admission charges apply, you can also explore these properties at your leisure as well as taking part in the Easter trail - why not treat the kids to a day out and beat holiday boredom?
