Yesterday was a great day - I had the onerous job of checking out 2 pubs that had been recommended to me by Abingdon residents to appear on thebestof Abingdon! Firstly I had lunch with my husband at the Kings Head and Bell in East St. Helen's Street - a fantastic plate of mussels and good bread to soak up the juice. The conservatory there is an excellent compromise between inside and out for eating when windy. Later, I then met with Dushan Salwathura who took over The Broad Face about 10 months ago and was amazed by the transformation he has achieved by working day and night over the period (more to follow). Well worth a visit for locally-sourced fresh food at very reasonable prices - to be sampled next week!
I then dropped in for a chat with Paul Viney who was getting ready for a wedding photography shoot on Saturday. So many people have started to rely on friends for photos, but such a shame not to have some professional photos to look back on too.
I love Abingdon and am passionate about promoting the businesses and events that are centred there. I want everyone to realise how great they are and how we should all be using them!
