By Hannah Nichols:
Abingdon has proved it has a heart and a strong sense of community as local restaurants, hotels, florists, photographers and even an artist, rally to support fundraising activities for the British Heart Foundation’s National Heart Month this February.
As part of a nationwide campaign for National Heart Month, British brand Furniture Village has requested its network of 39 stores raise as much money as possible for the British Heart Foundation. Rising to the challenge, the staff of Abingdon’s Fairacres Shopping Centre store took the streets to see if any other local businesses could help. The team received an incredible response from some of the area’s most notable companies, all eager to offer a range of fantastic raffle prizes.
From a Michelin Starred lunch for two at the revered Nut Tree restaurant to a complimentary game at the Hinksy Heights championship 18-hole golf course or photo session with celebrated photographer Paul Viney, the Abingdon Furniture Village British Heart Foundation raffle is not to be missed. There is even a chance to win a beautifully painted canvas from local artist Lauren Edmond.
Jason Moyce, Expert Bed Sales Consultant at Furniture Village Abingdon, comments: “In a time characterised by headlines of economic doom and gloom, it is reassuring to learn that those who live and work alongside each other can still show generosity and offer a helping hand to raise money for a worthy cause. We were overwhelmed by the range of prizes donated by our fellow businesses and hope people will visit the store to buy raffle tickets.
The raffle will be run alongside other fundraising activities at Furniture Village Abingdon, including donations for coffee and cookies, a pin badge sale and ‘best dressed in red’ competition.
The Abingdon Furniture Village British Heart Foundation raffle is now open with tickets priced £1 each until Sunday 26 February when winners will be announced.
