As the days shorten and the nights creep in it must mean that Halloween is nearly upon us... Whilst keeping a constant lookout for ghoulies and ghosties and long leggedy beasties, why not also consider some of the events taking place in the Abingdon area over this period?
The Bear & Ragged Staff in Cumnor (just outside Abingdon) hosts Pumpkin Night, a tradition that is run in aid of the Cumnor Mayor’s Fund. It takes place this year on the evening of 26th and features a children's magician, fancy dress, pumpkin competition, BBQ, Firework display, raffle and charity auction. See the newly elected Mayor of Cumnor thrown into the village pond as an added bonus!
On 31st, The Halloween Show comes to Abingdon Guildhall, courtesy of Science Oxford - a spooky, fun and interactive family show!
Millets Halloween Howl starts this Saturday (26th), The Maize Maze is transformed into a spooky world of webs and witches. With bone-shaking and spooktacular experiences both inside and out of the maize, this is a day of Halloween fun for all the family.
On 29th and 31st, Denman College (in Marcham, just outside Abingdon) has some autumn treats on offer. Spend the afternoon baking up treats for the family. A great way to spend some time with your family, making fun food with a bonfire theme in time for Halloween.
Waterperry Gardens have a Great Pumpkin Hunt over the half term week. Hunt for 10 hidden pumpkins to win a prize!
If you need fancy dress, or some props such as masks, capes, wands etc. look no further than Centre Stage in Coxeter House in Abingdon, who seem to house far more than is possible in a small space! Lewis Baker and Masons also have Halloween goods and the various Charity Shops seem to have a lot to offer this year too.

I love Abingdon and am passionate about promoting the businesses and events that are centred there. I want everyone to realise how great they are and how we should all be using them!
