Running on flooded roads and over waterlogged fields can be both miserable and dangerous. But the alternative indoor gym experience can also be lonely and soulless with only your iPod for company.
Rest assured there is a new and exciting alternative that puts the fun and sociability back into exercise while still retaining the rigour of a serious fitness programme.
In 2008 former Royal Marine Tom Alden established TLA Fitness to promote the benefits of outdoor training and exercise classes. Now, as well as running their popular outdoor training classes, TLA have opened a new state-of-the-art training studio in Sunningwell, near Abingdon.
Previously an old cow barn, the fabulously well-equipped studio runs private and group classes including Cross Fit, TRX Suspension Training, Spinning (with Keiser M3 bikes), yoga, boxing and kettlebells.
Tom's new studio provides a unique combination of serious training classes with support services such as drop-in sports massage and injury clinics, as well as being the venue for a monthly seminar about nutrition.
Each studio class packs a fantastic range of exercises and activities into an hour-long session â and no two classes are the same. The instructors at TLA Fitness will provide personal support throughout the session and make sure you have fun at the same time! The TLA way is to ensure you have the motivation to get the best out of your training session. And for the hard core athletes out there, Tom and the team can even provide specialist training for triathlons.
TLA's studio classes are a great way to get fit, have some serious fun and meet new people â away from the great British weather

I love Abingdon and am passionate about promoting the businesses and events that are centred there. I want everyone to realise how great they are and how we should all be using them!
