The Organisation for Responsible Businesses (ORB) is an independent organisation that supports and actively promotes socially and environmentally responsible businesses. It's not just about being 'green' - although that's obviously important - but also about helping businesses to forge closer social links within their neighbourhood.
The good news is, these social and environmental approaches are helping the profitability of member businesses as well and a national register of 'Responsible Businesses' is being compiled and promoted by the organisation.
No business can join ORB without satisfactorily completing an online Assessment Questionnaire - which really makes you think, I can tell you!
thebestofAbingdon fully supports the ORB and what they are seeking to achieve, so we are promoting the organisation to all our customers.
There is a small fee for membership but all customers of thebestof Abingdon who join before the end of August 2010 will save 40%. Once you are a member you can use their logo to tell everyone that you are a Responsible Business and you'll get access to their advice services (which can help find grants etc - so it can pay back in days) and a whole lot more - including a place on the Register.
