Love it or loathe it, the Eurovision Song Contest was cheerily up-beat this year – good to see some positive thinking in the current economic climate in Europe! If the communal dancing has made you desperate to join in with your local community in some form of musical extravaganza, why not visit Sunningwell Festival just down the road from Abingdon??
The Festival runs from 31st May to 6th June and features both theatrical and musical events – uniquely mostly on the pond! There is classical music from the Byrd Chorus and Colla Voce, a Folk Singing Workshop and Concert, Morris Dancing, Light Opera from Opera Anywhere, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Rock and Blues from 3rd Degree LeBurn and The Limitations and a celebration of local live music featuring local bands. Theatrically, you can see Wind in the Willows, Back to the Land Girls and Gullivers Travels (14+).
