Work started this week on the huge restoration project undertaken by Oakman Inns on The Crown & Thistle coaching inn in Bridge Street, Abingdon. There are a large number of outbuildings, including the barn and each of these has to have exploratory work performed first to ascertain how best to complete the detailed work of the full restoration.
The Inn is due to be opened in November this year and will have 18 individually designed en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant to seat 80 people, on-site parking and a new function room that will hold up to 60 people for weddings, funerals, conferences etc.
