Walking down Highbridge Road this morning I saw a car wheel-clamped near the corner with Princes Road. Haven't been up or down Highbridge Road for about a fortnight so it was a bit of a surprise.
This is the first time I've seen a vehicle clamped on the street in Aylesbury. Mind, the driver had parked on double yellow lines in such a position as would prevent an ambulance or fire engine from turning the corner. But then the clamper compounds the emergency access problem because the car was still there late this afternoon. No wonder clampers are not liked!
Why couldn't the clamper arrange for the car to be towed to a secure lockup? AVDC have lockups for their own vehicles and the number of tow-ins wouldn't be large enough to warrant a separate compound. It could be left in the yard with the rubbish trucks with the clamp on it.
Of course that requires thinking and clampers don't have a good reputation for that. Come to think of it, neither does AVDC.
