CommUNITY Barnet is a charity operating within Barnet supporting the voluntary sector. Part of our remit is to support volunteering opportunities, find ways to fund, and create opportunities and pathways into volunteering.
We feel very strongly that most of our young people are not given enough support to enable them to volunteer and reap the rewards that volunteering can bring therefore we are opening up opportunities for the voluntary sector to take advantage of the support that young people can offer.
We are looking to engage up to 300 young people each year for the next three years and empower them to make a difference in their communities by helping others in projects such as gardening, light painting, intergenerational activities, befriending etc. and young people will recognise the value of their contribution, therefore encouraging them to make informed decisions about volunteering and increase participation in the local community.
We would like to be able to offer some incentives to our young people for ongoing commitment to positive community involvement and that is why we are trying to enlist the business community’s support.
If you feel that you and your business has something to offer, either in providing prizes, one-off donations, discounts or in another capacity, please come forward and help us because we believe that Together we can make a difference in our community.
