In its Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) role, NDVS supports existing and evolving charities, voluntary organisations, charities, social enterprises and community groups across North Devon.
Through its Volunteer Centre, NDVS provides support, information and advice for volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations in Ilfracombe, Barnstaple, South Molton and the surrounding areas.
NDVS is running a range of informal and informative workshops in 2016.
20 September - Equality & Diversity – The Law and You
Over 100 separate pieces of legislation were brought together, strengthened and harmonised to create The Equality Act 2010. Have your policies and procedures taken the changes into account? Even more importantly, are they underpinned by an organisation-wide understanding of what equality and diversity really mean?
This workshop will look at the Equality Act, the Public Sector Equality Duty, and data on discrimination. There will be some exercises on bias and why we need the Act in the first place.
18 October - Effective Meetings
Are you and your colleagues using your time in the most effective way possible? Whether you're chairing, taking minutes or taking part, make sure you're helping to make your meetings as productive as possible.
15 November - Trustee Roles & Responsibilities
Whether you are a trustee, or work with them, do you understand the legal duties and liabilities involved? Make sure that your Board of Trustees are properly equipped to carry out their responsibilities
All these workshops will be held at Queens House, Barnstaple from 10am to 1pm, and cost £30. Places are limited to 8 people per workshop and 5 people on the Finding Funding workshop.
