Barrow will be the destination of a remembrance procession made up of thousands of motorcycles that departs from London in the morning, being joined by countless more along the route, before arriving in Barrow town centre late afternoon.
Celebrations will centre around Barrow Town Hall, with a service of remembrance and free family entertainment.
The main stage and centre point of the event will be located on the Town Square, directly outside the Town Hall and the Forum Theatre, with performances scheduled to start at 4pm.
A food court will be located near the Town Hall with a wide variety of local vendors, several who have worked with Dave on various projects. Local eateries and pubs are looking forward to welcoming the thousands of visitors too.
Toilet facilities will be provided at the rear of the Town Hall and at the Forum Theatre.
Please remember with so many visitors expected, it’s inevitable there will be increased traffic and some disruption on the roads, particularly during the afternoon and up to around 9pm - please be aware and plan your journey accordingly!
The main procession of bikers is expected from mid-afternoon. It will travel along the A590 to Barrow, turning along Park Road and then down Abbey Road to the town centre, turning on to Hindpool Road and then finishing at the Town Hall.
Any motorists are strongly advised to AVOID the route, particularly Hindpool Road, while the procession makes its way through Barrow (timings approximately 4pm to 6pm) to avoid significant delays and keep the route clear for the bikers and emergency services.
A number of town centre roads will be closed during the afternoon of 8 June between 3pm and 11pm around the vicinity of the Town Hall to support the safety of the thousands of visitors expected for Dave Day.
With so many people visiting, car parking in the town centre could be limited on 8 June. Please do not park illegally or inconsiderately in residential areas.
Locals planning to travel to Barrow for Dave Day may wish to consider available public transport options.
Barrow Raiders have a fantastic event planned for the day too!
The Raiders have proudly announced that they will be hosting a concert to celebrate the life of Dave Myers, on Dave Day, Saturday June 8th.
They were approached by the organisers and Dave's family to host the concert and they have put together some fantastic acts, with a mainly local theme.
The headline act is Massive Wagons who are playing for free, keeping the cost of tickets to the absolute minimum, and with all surplus monies going to Dave's charities; Childline and the Institute for Cancer Research.
Enjoy the day and celebrate Dave Myers’ life, but please do this in a respectful and safe way!
