Furness STEM Show gives 6 – 16 year olds the chance to discover more about the opportunities to be gained from studying the STEM subjects; Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Showcasing our local world- leading technologies with the aim of inspiring the next generation.
So, the challenge is back on – come along to find out more about how STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) contribute to the amazing local businesses we have here on the Furness Peninsula.
It provides the perfect opportunity for both children and their families to discover what’s on offer across Barrow and the South Lakes in terms of continuing education and employment opportunities.
There will be interactive STEM demonstrations, plenty of fun activities and exciting modern technologies and VR experiences from big local employers like BAE, Oxley, Siemens, Bender UK and Kimberly Clark.
It’s guaranteed to be a big hit with the whole family!
Cumbria does suffer from a skills shortage, particularly in science, technology, engineering and maths. Furness STEM Show will highlight how these subjects are relevant in the ‘real world’ and how important these skills are to local businesses.
Giving youngsters the chance to get involved with fun challenges, whilst finding out more about the world- leading technological companies on their doorstep is vital in bringing the next generation of highly skilled local people into these industries.
Opening times for Furness STEM Show
Tuesday 24th May (9am - 3.30pm) for schools, by invitation only.
Tuesday 24th May (4.30pm - 7pm) open to the public.
Wednesday 25th May (9am - 3.30pm) for schools, by invitation only.
There's also a free bus running from Ulverston to Barrow and back if you're struggling to get there! Please see the poster for pick up times and drop offs from various destinations.
