Barrow Market always hosts a great variety of events throughout the year. This Friday they welcome local author and historian Gill Jepson who will be holding a book signing session at the Portland Walk entrance to the market.
Gill is passionate about Furness Abbey and is a founder member of Furness Abbey Fellowship a voluntary group who work alongside English Heritage to support the abbey.
She is a part time Heritage Property Steward at Furness Abbey and enjoys telling visitors about the abbey and its history.
Gill’s passion for the area and its history forms the backdrop for her brilliant fantasy series ‘Out of Time’, a wonderful mix of past, present, magic and time travel. Although the stories are – essentially works of fiction, all places mentioned in the books are real focusing on the amazing and beautiful Furness Peninsula and of course the magnificent Furness Abbey. Many of the events and characters in the series are historically accurate too.
She has also written several books on Barrow in Furness including Barrow in Furness Through Time, Barrow in Furness In 50 Buildings, Secret Barrow in Furness, Barrow in Furness At Work (People and Industries through the years).
Always friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the area and happy to chat about everything local Gill will be in the market hall from 10.30am – 2.30pm at the Portland Walk entrance.
