We can’t guarantee the weather in Barrow and Furness (well you can’t have everything!), but we can guarantee plenty of great events to keep you occupied over the weekend.

This weekend sees both our local football and rugby league clubs in action. There is the biggest arts and crafts event in the North West taking place in Grange, as well as a fantastic thought provoking theatre production in Millom.

Both Barrow and Ulverston Libraries have free events on, and if live music is your thing, then Barrow Soccer Bar has a fantastic double header for you!

Whatever you choose to do, have a wonderful weekend, and don’t forget to pack your sun cream – you never know, the weather might just surprise you!

Barrow Raiders VS Oxford RLFC (Away fixture) Sunday 26th July 3pm

Barrow Raiders look to continue their good form in Kingstone Press League One with a visit to Oxford RLFC. The game takes place at The Iffley Road Ground at 3pm on Sunday.

Barrow AFC VS Workington (Away Fixture) Saturday 25th July 3pm kick off

The Bluebirds continue their pre-season preparations with a trip up the coast to play a friendly against Workington.  This promises to be a great day out for the fans, and a chance to see some of Barrow’s new signings in action.

Barrow Amateur Boxing Club are holding weekly sessions for children from their gym in Brook Street.

7 – 10 year olds sessions take place between 6-6.45pm on a Friday

11 – 16 year olds sessions take place on a Monday from 5.30pm

Could your shop benefit from a makeover masterclass?

Well, help is at hand!

Free window dressing workshops are being launched for local businesses.

The scheme, which is fully funded by Invest In Southlakeland is being run by Helen Goodwin from Made You Look.  Two sessions are being held at Ulverston Town Hall on Wednesday September 16th.

The event is limited to only 20 places, and delivers an insight into the science of window dressing.

Ford Park in Ulverston are hosting activity sessions every Wednesday through the Summer holidays from 2pm – 4pm.

The events start on July 22 with a teddy bears’ picnic, continues on July 29 with animal games and trees and minibeasts on August 5.

All activities are free (although donations are welcome) Simply turn up at the garden room in the walled garden 10 mins before the start time to ensure your place at the session.

The Wordsworth Trustare holding a family event on 24th July 10.30am at Ulverston Library.

Join in and celebrate a Wordsworthian Summer, learn more about the plants and flowers that grow amongst us.

You can experiment with watercolours, taking inspiration from the Cumbrian landscape, or you can create a bird feeder.

All activities are suitable for children age 3+

The reading challenge starts with Record Breaking Crafts

Prom Art takes place at The Prom in Grange Over sands Sunday 26th July 10am-4pm

Now in its 11th year Prom Art continues to be the largest outdoor arts & crafts event in the North West

Talented artists exhibit their unique, handcrafted creations, giving you the chance to become the owner of something truly special. Musicians, dancers, entertainers and caterers are all on hand to make this a memorable day out for the whole family.

Walney Wind Cheetahs meet on Mondays and Wednesdays all through the summer. To join in just meet up with them outside The Walney School at 5.45pm

Furness Future Flyers Cycling Club meets every Monday at Dowdales School in Dalton In Furness.

It’s the first British Cycling Go-Ride  cycling club in the South Lakes and covers all cycling disciplines such as road racing, mountain biking and general cycling skills. Sessions take place every Monday until the end of September at Dowdales between 6.15pm and 7.45pm
