Ford Park is a wonderful place to meet, play, relax and reflect and take the dog for a walk. It’s also a base for the many fantastic events that take place in Ulverston throughout the year.
During the pandemic, Ford Park became a haven for many people. It became so important for locals to meet safely, reconnect with people and did so much to boost physical and mental wellbeing.
Back in November 2021 a section of the wall by the popular woodland trail in the park collapsed. This wall borders St. Mary’s Hospice and is a popular pathway that leads to Hoad.
A combination of storms, wet weather, weathering, and age of the stonework has led to the damage. It’s not just the collapsed section of the wall that needs repair. There is almost 18 meters of wall that needs strengthening to ensure that the wall remains intact, safe, and secure for the future.
To do this, Ford Park needs to raise funds.
The Wall Art Exhibition at Ford Park is a two-day exhibition taking place between Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th March. It will be showcasing amazing artwork from local artists who have donated their works to help raise funds to help repair the wall.
Art can be purchased over the two days, and it is also the perfect opportunity to browse and preview the artwork before the Online Auction starts where you will have the chance to bid on your favourite pieces.
A Facebook Group has been set up where you can find regular updates, artist showcases and some tantalising glimpses of some of the pieces that you can bid on. So, keep checking back on the group and don’t forget to invite your friends and family.
Every donation received will go towards repairing the heritage stone wall.
If you are a local business or a local artist and would like to donate a piece for the exhibition, then there’s still time - the team would love to hear from you!
