Back In 2019 5 Rotary clubs in South Cumbria (Furness, Furness Peninsula, Ulverston, Kendal and Kendal South Westmorland) joined forces and collected warm, thick, unwanted winter coats that were then distributed to 10 local charities who handed them out to vulnerable and needy local families and individuals.
During that campaign a staggering 2,200 coats were collected from 44 local collection points, ensuring the neediest in our communities were kept warm and dry. Coats were given out to charitable organisations that provide frontline services to the homeless, elderly, refugees, families and those who are fleeing domestic violence.
This year Ulverston Rotary are once again helping this amazing cause, and they would be grateful for your support!
Coats are collected by volunteers at local collection/drop off points and sorted into categories (Male, Female, Children, Baby)
All coats that are donated are then inspected to make sure they’re in good condition. Wrap Up’s motto is “Is this coat good enough for you to wear?” You can rest assured that only good quality coats are distributed to charities.
The aim of giving the coats to charities instead of directly to individuals and families is that the charities are best placed to identify the support and resources that can benefit those who need it the most. By helping vulnerable people in this way lasting relationships may be formed that can hopefully turn into something truly transformational.
The Wrap Up Cumbria campaign starts on 4th October and runs till 21st October.
