The racing will start at around 10am as Soapbox Kart number 1 will set off racing down the town centre course using only gravity to set the first time of the day. This time will set the benchmark for teams to beat as we see an array of hand-built Soapbox racers speeding down Dalton Road in Barrow town centre.
The ramp will be located at the top of Dalton Road (Outside the Entertainer) with the pits situated behind this structure, enabling the public to view and interact with the teams and their karts during the day.
Along the course, we will have a large-screen TV, located at the top of Portland Walk. The large-screen TV will provide a spectacle for the crowds and ensure you see more of the racing as it happens. There will also be many obstacles along the track, including the returning phenomenal GrimeFighters splash zone!
Also located at the top of Portland Walk will be an accessible viewing area. Designed with love for all, this area ensures everyone, regardless of physical abilities, enjoys an unobstructed view of the race. With ramped access, ample space, and helpful volunteers, we're making the race a joyful experience for all.
Your host commentators for the day will be radio presenters from Cando FM who will keep you up with events from the CandoFM radio tower, located next to the large screen.
The racing (operated by Marshals North West) is due to be completed at around 5pm, followed by a presentation which will take place at the finish stage, with prizes awarded for a number of categories, including fastest kart and joker of the day.
