  • Dalton Road
    Barrow
  • Saturday 21st September, 11:45am
COME AND JOIN BarrowFull in Barrow Town Centre on Saturday 21st September for RECLAIMING THE PAST, an event with parade and performances, to celebrate the remarkable women in our lives and communities that make Barrow a town to be proud of.
RECLAIMING THE PAST is part of the BarrowFull DREAMS PROJECT, looking at the Past, Present and Future of Barrovian's lives and the colourful tapestry of communities that make up the culture of Barrow.
For the PAST DREAMS element of the project, artist Sarah Hardacre has been researching the her-stories of Barrovian Women. From the shipyard to the running track, from the Mayor's Parlour to the kitchen larder, from the florists shop to the football pitch, Sarah has worked with local community-based groups to co-curate the event which celebrates women from all corners of the community.
Times:
11:45am // BE PART OF IT
We invite you to make your own placard, banner or pennant to add your voice and celebrate the phenomenal women in your life. Bring this along and meet us outside Heron Foods on Portland Walk and join the community in the parade.
12.00 midday // PARADE & PERFORMANCES
Follow the parade as groups set off from both ends of Dalton Road and from Portland Walk, to meet and gather by the Spirit of Barrow sculpture (outside McDonalds) where you can watch live performances including music, dance and theatre from local artists.
All are welcome, so come and join the celebrations!
