We were staying in the village for the second year in a row and so we visited the White Hart quite a few times, well nearly every night of our 7 day stay and found to be a very pleasant and friendly place to eat and drink.
However move on to this year and what a difference a year makes and I don't mean in a good way.
The Food at best was below average particularly the fish and chips absolutely swimming in grease 🤢 the so called king prawn tai curry was infact chicken and when I asked I was told they had run out of prawns😡
The place is plagued with flies and the decor very shabby and at least every other light bulb was not working on the wall lights, so making the eating areas very poorly lite.
There is something very wrong here as last years experience was so totally different. The whole place seemed to be run by 12 year olds and there didn't seem as if there was anybody in charge to complain to as when we did raise our concerns they were met with indifference.
We will be returning to Bouth again next year, but we will not be popping in to

Huge thanks to Satty, Kirsty & team at Base Restaurant last night!!! Absolutely incredible cuisine - nobody is doing Fine Dining like this in Furness - with wine pairings too!! 😋
We’re late to the party on this one but absolutely delighted to finally try this gem of a restaurant right on our doorstep in Ulverston. Fresh local produce with a *different taster menu for dinner every week*, we were blown away with the flavours Satty creates with his food - we can completely see why you were on MasterChef : The Professionals 🤩
Great wine list too - delighted you have a Gewurtztraminer on there - some of my fellow winos will love that too!

I wasn’t sure what to expect approaching Base after all the amazing reviews but I had nothing to worry about. From the time we arrived the service was excellent. The food was so well presented and so full of a variety of flavours. It was a nice touch for the chef to chat to us afterwards about our experience. From start to finish a wonderful evening and it made my brothers birthday that more special.

Any words I use to describe this culinary experience simply will not do it justice, I honestly haven't tasted flavours like this before. Watching the chef prepare each dish with love and attention to detail was a joy. I can't praise Base and ALL it's staff enough, bravo

Absolutely fabulous evening. We went on a Thursday evening for the seven course tasting menu and Wow! Every course was amazing. It tasted wonderful and was beautifully presented. Quite simply the best meal I have had since I had to go gluten free eight years ago. The service was first class too - efficient, friendly and discreet. Can’t wait to go back.

Second visit in 3 days - says it all really. First visit we went for the Sunday Roast and it was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection. all the trimmings were beautifully done and plenty of gravy (finally somewhere which isn't shy about it). It's definitely not your bog standard roast.
We have just gotten back from lunch and I'm already planning my next visit. I got the Mac'N'Cheese with pulled pork! To die for. My husband got Ox Cheek Doughnut... which I ended up eating half of because it was that tasty. Everything is beautifully presented and you can tell it's top quality food.
They have definitely gotten the best chef around and the staff are super super lovely and attentive.
New best place in Barrow hands down! I wish you all the best and I will be back soon :D x
