They’ve brightened thousands of occasions over the years with their eye-catching and vibrant floral creations and now Basildon’s favourite florist has its own special reasons to celebrate.

For Smile and Tears Florists, which has been designing and delivering exquisite flower arrangements for 18 years, has officially been announced the Most Loved Business in Basildon.

The business, run by experienced florist Mary Haran, scored the highest on our “love meter” to find the most loved local businesses in the country. The 14 Days of Love campaign, which coincided with the run-up to Valentine’s Day, asked the nation to tell us which businesses they loved the most by posting an online recommendation. The businesses which received the most recommendations have been officially recognised as the most loved in their town or nationally. It is the second year running the premier florist has scooped the Basildon title and cements another successful year for the firm.

Speaking about the accolade, Jim Haran, who runs the business with his wife, said: “We are obviously delighted to be named Basildon’s most loved business for the second year in a row and would like to thank all those people who took the time to post a personal recommendation online. Their continuing support is instrumental to our success and we hope the people of Basildon continue to enjoy the floral creations we design.”

When asked what is was that inspired so many people to continue using Smile and Tears time and time again, Mr Haran replied: “It has to be quality, above all, and Mary’s creativity as well as being focused on delivering the best possible product. It’s also about having knowledge and imagination. Many of our customers enter the shop without a clue about what they would like or what would work and that’s how we can help.
