The borough’s brightest stars will get a chance to shine on stage at this year’s Basingstoke Variety Show.
More than 300 local performers, including singers, dancers, musicians and stand-up acts, will entertain at The Anvil on Saturday 7 October.
With proceeds from the show going to the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane’s Community Chest Charity Appeal, the annual event promises to showcase a variety of brilliant talent – from soloists to schools and groups.
There will be a jam-packed programme of live music and dance, compered by ventriloquist Steve Hewlett, who found fame as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.
Top acts taking to the stage include Basingstoke Academy of Dancing, Dance Phaze, Lisa Beaumont School of Ballet, Happy Feet Dance Academy, Stagecoach, Spotlight Centre, and Limelight, the the youth group of Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society (BAOS) plus other solo acts and performers from local schools.
Jump Factory is the headline sponsor of this year’s show, which promises to be one of the biggest and best yet.
Producer Ian Aherne said: “We are very excited to be showcasing some of the best talent in and around Basingstoke and are delighted to be working with many groups and artists for the first time.
“It is always very special to have over 300 performers filling the Anvil with live music.
“So please put the date in your diary. It will be a very fun, upbeat evening for all ages and a fantastic way to raise money for a very worthwhile Mayor’s Charity Appeal.”
Mayor Cllr Paul Frankum said: “Basingstoke’s got talent – and this is your chance to enjoy an evening of fantastic entertainment from our community.
“The feelgood factor is even better as funds raised from the show will go into my community chest to benefit good local causes.”
