I came across a new article today about successful business people written by a very successful entrepreneur, Nigel Botteril, who is the guy who started thebestof. I thought I'd share it here as it is dead right. Being a franchisee of thebestof I get to see directly how some of the franchisees do so well and prosper while others don't make it. Ultimately thebestof is a fantastic, unique business concept with great support from head office, but without the drive and determination by a franchisee aimed in the good direction along with a balanced commercial understanding of the opportunity, it will result in a fraction of its potential. I've seen it in a couple of clients of mine as well, both franchises - Mailboxes Etc and Minuteman Press, where the local franchisees have taken it beyond the basic franchise and made it completely their own.
