As I was looking through that fount of local knowledge the 'Times and Citizen' I was amazed how many local celebrities Bedford can boast.
Through the paper there were stories about Justin Bieber playing a secret gig at The Park Inn, sculptor Andy Holden's Pyramid Piece on display at the Tate Britain, Jean-Christophe Novelli raising money for Keech Hospice Care on 'All Star Mr & Mrs', ex-Bedford Town manager Barry Fry is involved with 'Celebrity Big Brother', and Emily Atack who is competing in 'Dancing on Ice'. So they are the national celebrities.
However there is also novelist Pat Walsh, who is having great success with her first published novel, 'The Crowfield Curse', as it wins a place on the shortlist for the Waterstone's Children's Book Award 2010. Following the literary path, local poet Daphne Warwick has won the United Press National Poetry Champion award with her poem entitled 'The Swan'. Well done to you both!!
This was all in one week! It makes me feel proud to be a part of Bedford. I can't wait to see what next week brings....
