The Real Renaissance Raw Food Cafe is a real ‘find’ in Bedford, it being the only Raw Food restaurant in Bedfordshire, it can be a little hard to find as is tucked away in the Day Resource Centre (part of Bedford Hospital North Wing) on Kimbolton Road but don’t let that put you off as a visit to The Raw Food Cafe can genuinely be a life changing experience!
The Raw Food Cafe serves a delicious range of great tasting food which is (get this!) really good for you! I had the most amazing beetroot soup, followed by a vegetable lasagne and chocolate torte with a cashew nut kreem all washed down with an amazing Kiwi based smoothie which was all delicious... but what I was most surprised at was that despite eating my usual (largish portions) I didn't feel drowsy afterwards but very alert and on the ball!
The Real Renaissance Cafe is run by Ann Peckham, who is knowledgeable and engaging and happy to explain how she became a raw food aficionado and how to create delicious and healthy raw food meals. Ann has some great plans for developing raw food in Bedford including moving to dedicated new premises, offering cookery courses (minus the cooking bit!) and a lunch box service.
The Real Renaissance Cafe is running a taster day on the 28th January and you can find it in the events section on thebestofbedford, and by clicking on the above link.
