Proposed Car Parking Increases in Bicester. Have just heard from the local Chamber of Commerce that the Councils Executive are considering proposals for off street parking in Bicester and Banbury. These include charge increases of 10p per hour; charging time brought forward by 1 hour (8am to 7am); charging for blue badge holders; introduction of evening charges; increasing the excess charge notice by £10; and bringing Sunday and Bank holiday charges in line with Mon to Sat charges.
This consutation seems to have passed by many people I have talked to in the town and the consultation ends on on 1st December. With all the uncertainty about the new development and the consequences for local trade particulalry in the short/medium term it does seem somewhat innapropriate to consider introducing changes that could potentially further discourage people from coming into the town centre.
