    BAD ROADS
Running from 24th - 27th May   Presented by Here to There productions Written By Natal’ya Vorozhbit.
Translation By Sasha Dugdale

Bad Roads is a heart-breaking, powerful, bitterly comic account of what it is to be a woman in wartime, written by leading Ukrainian playwright Natal’ya Vorozhbit.

Written in 2017 this play was first performed in November and December of that year at The Royal Court Theatre. It is believed to have not been performed in the United Kingdom since but has been made into a film; this was Ukraine’s entry for ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ at the Academy Awards.

This is the bravest piece Here to There productions have taken on as a production in their ten-year history. It is not a production for the faint-hearted. The language and action and all the images they convey is graphic. These are real-life accounts, not fictitious.

“A shattering exploration of women in raw by a Ukrainian playwright” – The Stage   “The cast was superb” – The Telegraph   “Masterly & Woundingly Memorable” – The Independent   “Complex and compelling” – The Times

Content/Trigger Warning: This play is intended for mature audiences. It contains suggestive dialogue, coarse language, and sexual violence. Please exercise self-care in choosing to engage with this material.
