Each year The Red Arrows Trust give over £100,000 to support a wide range of charitable causes up and down the country, and this year they have given £7,500 to Fisher House UK.

Part of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Fisher House provides free accommodation to families of military patients, just a 5-minute walk from the hospital.

Fisher House takes away the added stress of having to travel to and from the hospital or finding somewhere nearby to stay.

More than just a house, it is a safe and calm space for families to spend time together, away from the clinical environment of hospital. Fisher House is a lifeline for families and makes what is already an extremely difficult time slightly more manageable.

The Red Arrows Trust’s Chair of Trustees, Air Vice Marshal Gary Waterfall said: “We are extremely proud to be supporting Fisher House UK with this donation.

“The work Fisher House UK and the hospital charity does for military patients and their families is so important and we are delighted to be able to help make a difference.”

Former RAF Corporal, Stuart Robinson, experienced first-hand the impact Fisher House can have after he was seriously injured in an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2013.

Stuart lost both of his legs and received treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Thanks to Fisher House, his family were able to stay nearby and visit him whenever they wanted.

Stuart said; “During those difficult early days of my recovery, Fisher House gave me and my family a place to escape. It was our sanctuary, our bubble, our safe haven. I can’t thank Fisher House enough for looking after them so well.”

The Red Arrows Trust is a charitable organisation linked to The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows.

The Trust is dedicated to making a positive impact through partnership and sponsorship of worthy causes, working with organisations that aim to create a better future for communities across the country.

The Trust aims to make a difference in areas such as serving and veteran military personnel’s social welfare and healthcare, and aid organisations and community projects that The Red Arrows themselves support.

Fisher House UK is entirely charity funded and relies solely on donations to keep the facility running, year after year.
