Businesses across the West Midlands have been urged to help future-proof their operations – and save money - by backing this month’s National Apprenticeship Week.
The appeal comes from Scott Dalziel of the global Davies Group, which delivers professional services and technology solutions throughout the risk and insurance value chain.
Scott said: “Apprenticeships are more than just a pathway for developing the next generation of talent—they’re a strategic investment in your business’s future.
“With the right approach, apprenticeships can drive growth, enhance productivity, and contribute to long-term success while offering significant financial advantages that many businesses may not fully realise.”
He said one key benefit often overlooked was the potential for businesses of National Insurance savings.
“If your business employs apprentices under the age of 25, you’re exempt from paying employer National Insurance contributions (NICs) on earnings up to the Upper Secondary Threshold. These savings can be substantial, freeing up resources to reinvest in other critical areas of your operations.
“Beyond financial incentives, apprenticeships equip your team with the precise skills your business needs to stay competitive. Apprentices bring enthusiasm and fresh perspectives to your organisation, sparking innovation and reinvigorating your workforce. Alongside NIC savings, government funding is also available to support training costs, further easing financial burdens.
“By investing in employee development through apprenticeships, you foster loyalty, improve retention, and create a more inclusive workforce by opening doors to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
“When you offer apprenticeships, you’re not just shaping the workforce of tomorrow—you’re also gaining immediate financial and strategic benefits.
“This National Apprenticeship Week, take the first step in transforming your workforce and business. To learn more about apprenticeships, including funding opportunities and NIC savings, contact me at scott.dalziel@davies-group.co.uk.”
National Apprenticeship Week runs from February 10 to 16.
