A heavenly building in the heart of Birmingham is to host an out-of-this world
musical event marking the 50 th anniversary of the moon landings.

On July 20 th , fifty years to the day after Neil Armstrong stepped onto the
lunar surface, the iconic surroundings of Birmingham Cathedral in Colmore
Row will provide the venue for Interstellar, an ambitious musical event
featuring the 50-piece Limelight Orchestra.

Playing uplifting rock and pop classics by the likes of David Bowie, ELO and
Daft Punk, the two-hour Interstellar extravaganza will also see the cathedral
lit up by a spectacular lighting show and state-of-the-art 3D holograms.
“This is going to be an amazing event in an incredible location,” said Paul
Brindley, of organisers Secret Symphony.
“We have been working on this for a long time and have put together an
amazing musical event that people won’t forget. We’re over the moon with
the results.

“The combination of the themed light show, 3D holograms, a 50-piece
orchestra and the brilliant acoustics of the cathedral will provide a fitting way
of celebrating half a century since man made it to the moon.
“This will be one of the biggest musical nights in Brum this year.”

The Limelight Orchestra are a versatile collaboration of musicians from
across the Midlands, incorporating brass, strings, percussion, and rhythm
sections supporting impressive vocalists.

The Interstellar event in Birmingham on July 20 th is one of a number being
organised at Midlands cathedrals, including Lichfield, Coventry and Lincoln,
with a massive show also being staged at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena.
“We’re very excited about all the Interstellar shows,” Paul said, “but the
Birmingham Cathedral one feels extra special – because it’s on the actual
anniversary of man reaching the moon.”

Interstellar is at Birmingham Cathedral, Colmore Row, on July 20 th , and
features both a matinee and evening show. Full details of all the Interstellar
events, and ticket booking details, are available from www.secret-
symphony.com.
