Come join the fun with BOA’s October Half Term Workshops

Calling all budding young performers; Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) is thrilled to announce the return of its exciting October Half Term workshops.

Running from Monday 28 – Wednesday 30 October, these workshops are for 8-16 year olds, and a fantastic chance to learn new skills, meet new friends and have some fun. With workshops in Musical Theatre, Dance & Acting, there’s something for everyone, and at just £30 each (or £75 for all 3), this is an opportunity not to be missed for those wishing for a creative insight into the world of professional theatre.

The workshops are run by fantastic practitioners from The Old Rep Theatre, with professional dancers, actors, choreographers and singers all teaming up to provide high-quality training opportunities for the young participants. The workshop leaders announced are:

Katie Row performed as a dancer/understudy Princess in ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ (The Core Theatre Solihull 2017/18) and dancer in ‘The Greatest Show: Songs From Hollywood (2018/19 UK Tour). She was also a featured dancer in Sky 1’s ‘Britannia’ and a ballerina in BBC’s ‘Peaky Blinders’, and played ‘Charlotte’s Assistant’ in HBO/Sky Atlantic’s ‘Succession’ which won the 2019 International BAFTA.

Kate-Anne Fenton has performed in numerous musical/dance roles, including Ensemble/Understudy Princess in 'Aladdin' (Qdos) At Venue Cymru Llandudno, the 2018/2019 UK tour of ‘Crazy For You’ the musical as Mitzi/On Stage Swing/Flute, Ginnie in 'Goodnight Mister Tom' at the East Riding Theatre, 'Spirit of The Dance' UK tour 2019, and Ensemble in ‘Love Dyed in 8 Shades Of Purple’ London workshop of a new musical based on the music of Prince.

Olivia Jones trained at Bird College in London, graduating in 2015 with a BA Honours degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Since 2015, she has been performing all over the UK with The Vegas Showgirls and Rubix Dance Productions.

Sam George is the Learning & Participation Officer at The Old Rep Theatre. Sam works as Producer on their annual Christmas show (Pinocchio 2018, The Snow Queen 2019). He is also a professional theatre Director, having worked with his own theatre company on several national tours.

Alexandra Whiteley is a director and facilitator based in Birmingham, and an Associate Artist of The Old Rep. Her assistant director work has included projects with companies such as Birmingham Rep, Graeae, and Heartbreak Productions, and has facilitated for The Old Rep, Shakespeare Schools Foundation and Theatre Centre among others.
