With over 400 employees, a responsibility for more than 800 children, and an annual budget exceeding £20 million, FET is committed to providing exceptional education across its seven special schools, situated across Birmingham, Solihull, and Sutton Coldfield.

The Trust recently expanded with the opening of The Heights Academy in Solihull — a specialist school for children with autism aged 7 to 16 and supports The Bridge School in Sutton Coldfield — a specialist junior with 90 children, all with complex learning difficulties or physical disabilities.

Hallmoor School, in Kitts Green, is the Trust’s largest school, serving nearly 300 children with learning difficulties, complex needs and autism. Children ranging from ages 4 to 19 come together in a vibrant, supportive learning environment.  The school is commitment to enabling children to live confident, independent lives.

FET is looking for individuals with a strong commitment to civic duty in Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, and Solihull. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in finance, business operations, information technology, or human resources.

Simon Dilkes, CEO of Forward Education Trust said: “Being a trustee with Forward Education Trust is an incredibly rewarding experience.

“You have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and young people, while also gaining valuable skills and experience by working alongside a diverse and committed group of professionals.

“Our Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in supporting the Trust’s mission to inspire young people to excel in their education, improve their life chances, and build strong school communities.

“We are excited to welcome new trustees who can contribute to our strategic goals in the coming years.”

New trustees will be supported with a comprehensive induction and training programme, and will have the opportunity to attend board meetings, visit schools, and engage directly with the Trust’s activities to gain a deeper understanding of its work.

Interested individuals are encouraged to contact Simon Dilkes, CEO of Forward Education Trust, at governance@fet.ac for further information.
