Enjoy the best seat in the house from every angle

With England through to the knock-out stages of Euro 2020, the country has become united in its love of football.

But with even the biggest fans of the beautiful game unable to get a pitch-side seat, there’s nothing worse than being the last to reach the sofa and suffer from a Row Z view.

To make sure every seat is the best in your house, Heal’s in-house stylist Anna Sheridan, is sharing her advice on how to position the big screen to watch football come home.

Anna comments, “While there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to positioning your TV, there are a few general rules that will mean everyone has the best viewing experience – regardless of where they end up sitting.”

See Anna’s top tips below:

FIND YOUR PERFECT LIVING ROOM FORMATION

“The premium viewing spot will be front and centre to the screen, but anti-reflection and low-glare technology now means that every angle can provide a fantastic view of the pitch.

“Aim to position chairs around the TV within a 30-degree angle from either side of the mid-point – the sweet spot will be about two metres back.”

WORKING THE ANGLE FOR THE PERFECT SHOT

“The average eye height from the floor when seated is around 44”, so raise your TV to this level, to avoid a half time neck strain. If you’re mounting a screen for the first time, cut out a piece of cardboard to the same dimensions and ask a friend to hold it up against the wall so that you can check that you’re happy with its positioning.”

AVOID ANY RED CARDS

“It’s easy to get carried away in the excitement of the match, but to avoid any living room spillages and breakages, think ahead to where drinks will be best positioned within the room – food is best served at half time!

“If you have a side table, place it slightly behind your chair to prevent any celebratory spillages.”
