Poetry Duo to Perform at Shrewsbury Festival!
Local wordsmith Julia Dean-Richards is teaming up with poet and Hope Radio presenter Ian Henery, to perform as part of the Miles and Smiles Festival on Sunday 25th July. This is a free family event, with lively performances on the main stage and local venues.
The Duo will perform a sestina of hope they co-wrote during lockdown, which is regularly played on Birmingham Hope Radio.
Ian and Julia will also add their individual poems to the mix, on the Main Stage and at Saint Alkmunds Church, Pride Hill, Shrewsbury.
Ian Henery regularly hosts a radio show, which is a platform for poets. His latest book – Poems of Hope, published by Kates Hill Press, was recently launched at the Wolverhampton Literature Festival.
Julia runs Shropshire based charity Arty Party, an arts organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities to explore and express creativity through art, drama, music, film, and dance.
She is a is also an editor and publisher with Figtree Industries, and co-director of Community @ In Good Hands, a community sitting room and music café, in Frankwell, Shrewsbury.
“Creativity and Community have pulled us through a most challenging time,” said Julia, “now we need to come together to keep hope alive.”
