A local poet is to perform at Shrewsbury Food Festival on 4th September in Quarry Park. Brendan Hawthorne is also a playwright, singer-songwriter, author, comic compere and workshop facilitator.
The event will also host 150 food, drink and craft exhibitors, a new home and garden area, chef school, gin school, chef demos, live music - and - for the first time ever - poetry performances in a dedicated poetry gazebo. Born and bred in the Black Country, where his attitude to writing and performing has been honed, Brendan has centred his work on the belief that every landscape and every person has a story to tell.
Brendan is widely published and has held several writing residencies throughout his career. He was one of Anthony Gormley`s "Fourth Plinthers" and holds the "Bill o Bowes" national award for best written dialect.
