A local poet, Julia Dean-Richards, has been asked to perform at Shrewsbury Food Festival on Sunday 5th September. And she is bringing a team of artists and poets to help her entertain families at the Food Festival in Quarry Park.
“Its team work “explained Julia. The team is: Kalman Dean-Richards Julia Dean-Richards Amrit Kaur Gemma Maddox Graham Attenborough Tessa Kirk Fiona Howland “Our team represents Arty Party, Community @ In Good Hands, and Figtree Industries editing and publishing” explained Julia.
“We will be coming up with lines for our community poem: Why I love Shrewsbury. We will be encouraging the public to contribute ideas and words and will also be composing poems about food, to fit with the festival theme. “
There will be a huge roll of paper, a trestle table, pens, paint and brushes available for a 'graffiti style' session.
“Throughout the day our team will be reading from their own compositions - poetry and prose, and we might even come up with a song! We will have a PA and microphone so need access to a power point.
Our poets are invited to bring their books and pamphlets. Words and pictures gathered at the Food Festival will be incorporated into a community frieze and exhibited at Community @ In Good Hands, Frankwell, Shrewsbury. “
