Thirteen of the region’s most exciting young artists will be descending on Birmingham Hippodrome for the Gifted 37 showcase on Saturday, 28 September, as part a new partnership between Punch Records and Birmingham Hippodrome.
Taking place in Birmingham Hippodromes Patrick Studio, Gifted 37 will showcase the work of the standout graduates of Punch Records’ Gallery 37 talent development programme. Each of the young performers, artists or filmmakers saw off stiff competition to win industry backing to create and debut their first professional piece of work.
Kerry Andrews, Head of Producing and Artistic Development at Birmingham Hippodrome said: “We are delighted to partner with Punch Records on the Gifted 37 showcase and are proud to support the next generation of artists as they reach a critical point of their career. The artists are exceptionally talented and are the top talent on Punch Record’s Gallery 37 Talent Programme, so we know it is going to be an amazing showcase.”
Andrews added: “I personally cannot wait to see their work in our studios, galleries and foyers an urge everyone interested in supporting the next generation of artistic talent to come along.”
Sixty artists successfully completed the Gallery 37 Talent Programme and were eligible to pitch ideas for a place on the Gifted 37 showcase before the final thirteen were shortlisted. Programme participants also received an investment towards their production costs, plus support and mentoring from industry professionals.
Ammo Talwar MBE, Chief Executive Officer of Punch Records added: “Gallery 37 has been a major part of our engagement programme and the artists have worked exceptionally hard to develop their understanding on the industry and create new work. The showcase will celebrate the diverse talent in the region and our partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome has also given the artists a fantastic opportunity to make their debut performances at a prestigious venue in the city.”
Gifted 37 will be performed at Birmingham Hippodrome’s Patrick Studio on Saturday 28 September. Tickets are £5 in advance or £8 on the door, subject to availability. To book visit birminghamhippodrome.com or call 0844 338 5000 (4.5p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge).
