Nativity!  The Musical returns home to the Birmingham Rep after a smash hit run of touring the UK and playing in London`s West End since its world premiere at The Rep in 2017.

The cast includes 54 children handpicked from Birmingham and the West Midlands.  The production is a triumph and was a sell out performance on 24th November.

Adapted for the stage by Debbie Isitt, it runs at the Birmingham Rep until Saturday 7th January 2023.     It is based on the book by Debbie Isitt with music by Nicky Ager and Debbie Isitt and based on the film Nativity! which was written and directed by Debbie Isitt.  Produced by Nick Jones, the excellent performance was brought to Birmingham with help from Arts Council England and Birmingham City Council.

  Nativity!  The Musical features:

500 hand painted glittering stars of different sizes and shapes
400 costumes including 54 school uniforms

100 litres of glitter paint in the set and an extra 50kg of glitter

Ben Lancaster plays the role of Mr Poppy alongside Billy Roberts as Mr Maddens (both pictured) with Daisy Steere as Jennifer, Matthew Rowland as Mr Shakespeare and Cameron Johnson as the Hollywood Producer.   They are joined by Ralph Bogard as Lord Mayor, Jamie Chapman as Patrick Burns, Jemma Churchill as Mrs Bevan, Tom Hext as Mr Rye with Sydney Isitt-Ager, Callum Train and Louie Wood on stage swings.

Nativity!  The Musical is a first class piece of stagecraft and the Birmingham rep is an excellent venue to enjoy quality theatre.  Totally recommended.
