As part of Sampad’s vibrant and exciting arts programme, Asian Spring celebrates outstanding talent in South Asian Dance from across the Midlands. The spectacular annual showcase is an explosion of colour, mesmerising moves and stunning costumes. Sampad will welcome a packed audience at Town Hall Birmingham on Sunday 1st March at 6pm.

The renowned, family favourite, Asian Spring has seen nearly 3000 dancers perform, many of whom have forged successful professional careers in dance. This year Sampad welcomes both Asian Spring veterans and first-timers, which always brings an exciting evening of different styles and

Chitraleka Bolar is one of the longest standing Asian Spring contributors, who has performed, choreographed and participated in Asian spring for the last 20 years. Chitraleka has seen a multitude of her students perform at Asian Spring, some of who now own dance schools with their students performing! This annual showcase truly is cross- generational sometimes with mothers, daughters & sons performing altogether.

Sampad’s proven track record in excellence, and uncompromised quality, means this year’s Edition will be as stunning as ever. With beautiful classical forms of Kathak and Bharatanatyam, incredible Bollywood, energetic Raas Garba and breathtaking Indian folk dance there will be something for all the family on this very special evening.

This is an important milestone for us and looking back it is heartening to witness the many dancers, teachers and choreographers who have been part of this journey from when we produced the first Asian Spring in 1998.  I congratulate each participant, as without you this passage of dance and celebration would not have been possible.’

Sampad South Asian Arts and Heritage, founded in 1990 by Piali Ray OBE, is an organisation that provides exceptional training opportunities to artists and supports communities both internationally and in the Midlands.
