"Bring The Power" was a youth-led community event, designed and hosted by passionate young changemakers aged 10-25, with the support of Our Community Foundation.

During the day, hundreds of young people took part in boxing sessions with former EU and Commonwealth champion Gamal Yafai. They also took part in archery, panna football, break dancing, cycling, wheel chair basketball, cricket, football sessions, inflatables along with workshops in making healthy foods, break dancing and bike fixing.

It was an event celebrating the empowerment of the next generation of leaders, creating a brighter, more inclusive future for our community.

By participating, they gained invaluable experience, broadened their knowledge, improved access to sports and exercise, and boosted their confidence and resilience.

As a local charity dedicated to tackling youth unemployment and improving the lives of disadvantaged young people, Our Community Foundation supported young people with this initiative, commissioned by United by 2022, the legacy charity of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Guests at the event included the Mayor for the West Midlands Richard Parker, WMPCC Simon Foster, deputy leader of Birmingham City Council Sharon Thompson, CEO UnitedBy2022 Nicola Turner MBE, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Ken Wood and the inspirational local Birmingham legend Mohsin AKA Mo Villa.

Basharat Dad, founder and CEO of Our Community Foundation said: “Our Community Foundation is proud to have been part of such a pioneering and transformative event, led by young people for young people.

“'Bring The Power' aligned perfectly with our mission to improve the lives of young people in Birmingham. We believe this initiative has provided a platform for young leaders to shine and make a tangible impact in their communities.”
