  • Thursday 6th March, 10:00am - Until Saturday 8th March, 4:00pm
The Creative Crafts Show, Sewing for Pleasure and Fashion and Embroidery are returning to the NEC in Birmingham from Thursday 13th March to Sunday 16th March to showcase the abilities of talented artists and crafters across the country.

This spring, Fashion & Embroidery will be launching a new annual event, The National Embroidery Awards. This new award invites entries from all corners of the community with the aim of celebrating wonderful artistry and diversity of embroidery. It hopes to be the pinnacle of embroidery contests in the country. The competition is open to all levels of ability and will be split into two categories; in education and not in education to ensure all those who enter have a chance to shine.

Visitors of the show will also have the opportunity to view The Red Dress; an award-winning global collaborative embroidery project that was created over the span of 14 years. The Red Dress is known in the embroidery world as a voice for different cultures to express themselves creatively. The Red Dress has been embroidered by 367 women and girls, 11 men and boys, and 2 non-binary artists from 51 countries across the world.

Those who have contributed to the dress were encouraged to create work that expressed their personal identities. Some used styles of embroidery that have been practiced for hundreds of years from their family’s previous generations, while others chose simple stiches that convey past events in their lives.

This year, Sewing for Pleasure will also be hosting a bigger and better Proud Lounge for sewists and crafters alike to enjoy a dedicated space celebrating the diversity of the sewing and crafting community.

The Creative Craft Show, will feature a brand new ‘Home-Style Stage’, where under expert guidance, visitors can learn how to use their crafting skills to create and up-cycle beautiful and exciting items for their home.

For the price of one ticket, those attending the Creative Craft Show will have access to Sewing for Pleasure as well as the Fashion and Embroidery show. Sewing for Pleasure is the perfect place to be if sewing, knitting and patchwork are your passions, while the Fashion and Embroidery Show offers a showcase for a plethora of embroidery and textile art. Feel inspired by the hands-on workshops, demonstrations and the stunning craftsmanship on display, and indulge in the opportunity to purchase the latest craft products from some of the best suppliers on the market.
