We thought this was a good opportunity to look at the opportunities the Games will bring to our region. Here is just a small snapshot of how we could all benefit from the Games next year!
Bishop's Stortford is conveniently situated just 30 minutes from the main
Olympic site. As the Olympics approaches our very own Stort Valley Olympic Committee, an independent organisation loosely associated with the Council, is organising a series of events in Bishop's Stortford and Sawbridgeworth, to take place throughout the second half of 2011 and 2012. The first of these is a Competition to design a logo to symbolise and inspire the Olympic related events in the area. Click here to enter.
Stansted Airport businessman, Terry Farthing, called on other local companies to wake up to the opportunities the Games will bring. Terry serves on the Stort Valley Olympic Committee and has lived and worked in the Stortford area for over 30 years. He said: "We have a hard-working team here at Airport Lettings and with 500 days to go until the opening ceremony this is not just about saying rent your home through us - this is about making sure that businesses large and small get really focused for next year and this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." "Thousands of individuals and families from across the world will visit our shores not only for the two weeks of the Games but for months and years afterwards. It is that legacy which businesses can benefit from and, with only 500 days to go, we need to all make sure we do what we can to welcome people to Essex." Click here for more.
