Stay at this hotel regularly for work, the staff are always pleasant. Unfortunately it suffers from chronic under investment and defects have been patched over. It could now do with complete refurb.

Stay once a month visiting family. Overall good value, comfy beds, good location. This visit we waited nearly 10 mins for someone to check us in and then no apology for the wait. The shower was the worst we have had ,all the bathrooms need some improvement, water running hot and cold and flaking paintwork. The rooms are a decent size and are always clean and warm.
Lots of positives, good location, free ample parking, nice bar area, reasonably priced, easy access to motorway network. Would have been an 8 score but for the poor check in experience and poor shower.

Stayed here for the first time as our normal hotels in the area were fully booked.
The rooms here vary depending on where you get put my room was on the smaller side clean and tidy but a little tired in parts however my colleagues room was bigger and much better.
At dinner they didn't have everything on the printed menu but there was enough to chose something different.
The evening meal was not good it was like eating a TV dinner and the quality was poor, the main course put me off having a pudding. Observing the meals served to other guests maybe my choice was not the best.
The breakfast was the opposite a very nice spread loads of choice cereals continental spread fresh fruits even down to a juicer to make fresh squeezed juices, the cooked spread was also really good on variety and how it was cooked.
It left me wondering how the evening meal was so poor when the breakfast was so good, I would go as far as to stay best of the five hotels I have used in the area.
They have a pool and gym on site for those of you who haven't been tired out by a hard day's work.
The location is close to the main road yet far enough away that it's not noisey the car par is large shared with an ambulance station, note I never heard an ambulance leave.
One thing that is not clearly stated that annoyed me is that they add a 10% service charge to the dinner bill that is not shown on your bill, I only found this out as I remembered the cost of the meals which did not equate to the charges on my card.
I would stay again just for the fantastic breakfast but eat out as there's some great local places to eat I would recommend the white crow, the crown and the white lion,

Attended for a Murder Mystery evening which was great fun! Staff were really helpful and friendly. Pool and gym also great. Steam room not working and saunas actually in each gender changing room so couldn't sit together. Hotel and room getting a little dated now. Shower was pathetic, water pressure awful to the point had to have a bath instead.

Hosted a wedding in Central and Rivington suits this weekend and I have to say the members of staff were nothing short of amazing. Everyone from the bar and kitchen staff to the managers were just excellent, going above and beyond.
We appreciated the advice from the hotel events coordinator/manager Rochelle on how to get the best use of space for our event needs and being very accommodating and even checking up on us on the day (on what I think was her day off).
The day manager Chris and the night manager Jimmy... they were excellent, very present and and ready with solutions to any problems and generally made life easier for us.
Every staff member we encountered during our time there was really good to us and contributed to a great experience at the Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel. Thank you.

We got married at Georgian House on 1st October and the whole team were lovely and made everything we wanted perfect. They contacted me and checked in with me to make sure they understood just what we wanted. Chris who worked on the day of our wedding was amazing.

Very pleasant room with a comfy bed except it was far too hot and no thermostat visible to turn it down
The shower/bath had no instructions on how to use the tap combination
Wasn't over enamoured with the evening supper, chicken.curry, thought it had come from a tin but the breakfast was superb, made up for the meal the night before
I did mention to the reception that it would be useful if the telephone was by the bed. Elderly people like would have trouble getting to it to use it in an emergency would be unlikely to walk to the other side of the room...also a socket for a plug would be helpful too

I would agree with some previous comments that the rooms are dated and in need of an update and it did smell damp and musty when we got out of the lift on our floor.. Mirrors not really in ideal locations in the rooms but it was clean.
My friends Wedding Day was absolutely amazing from start to finish, the staff were helpful all day, just an itsy bitsy question, why some tables got a full bread roll and some got half.....🙈🙈

Easy to find, loads of parking. I understand other comments on rooms being dated but it was clean and comfy. Lovely breakfast, plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Everything at Mercure Hotel was perfect. I had my wedding.party at Mercure Hotel and it was excellent. The food from the starter to the dessert was out of this world.. it was perfect.
Their rooms are so clean and ver wsrm. I would recommend anyone to use Mercure Hotel for any occasion. The staff is brilliant especially Rochelle who organised everything for me. Its 100% .

Comfortable bed, decent room, friendly staff. The location makes it hard to find a place to dine out; dining in a burger and a pint cost me 21 pounds.
Breakfast is ok, halfway between a smaller and more homemade quality and a larger and diverse one typical of a hotel this size. Unfortunately, it falls short of both.
I would have rated it three stars, but I found the stay inexpensive, so the cost-benefit is excellent as long as you eat out.

Had my weddimg here recently and I can't fault a single thing. I had some concerns prior to the wedding as we had stayed and some of the rooms are tired, I voiced these concerns with staff and management and they assured me that they were in the process of renovating some rooms but would allocate ourselves and our wedding guests to the best rooms available... and they did.
The Manager, Eric was wonderful in ironing out our issues and the staff on the day were exceptional, Chris went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was amazing. The food was spot on and the service can't be faulted. Thank you to all the hotel staff for making our day so perfect, we can't wait to come back and stay for our first anniversary.
If you're considering a stay here, don't consider it anymore, just book it. The leisure area is a perfect way to inwind or ideal for a morning swim to wake you up. All the staff felt like friends to us, so thank you to Eric, Sue, Chris, Irene and Zowie and the rest of the team for everything. All our love, Simon and Donna McMullen (formerly Buvhanan)

The staff are amazing, can't do enough for you. The rooms are ok, the rooms are ok. The whole place could do with a makeover though as it's dated. The drinks are very expensive. The food was by the worst thing. Overpriced, not much on the plate. They also continually run out of things on the menu.

Rooms was ok and clean. Food wasn't great. Had cod and chips ...not nice. Tiny portion and tasted like frozen. Came out in about two minutes so can't have been cooked well. Staff were lovely and saved the place from a lower score

Really nice stay, rooms fair size pillows bit hard for me apart from that very comfortable.
The team day and night are amazing nothing to much trouble.
Food really nice a little bit pricey when you're staying for 5 dayz for work, rooms clean and livable lol. No shops so bring your snacks.
Would definitely revisit for a weekend break.
