There are still places available for people to attend the forthcoming Cancer Listening Event being organized by Bolton Cancer Patients and Carers Consultative Group on Tuesday 8th November 2011.

The Group is inviting anyone who has been affected by cancer as a patient or family member / carer in the last five years to attend the event at Bolton Hospice on Chorley New Road, Bolton.

Miss Elliott Chair of Bolton Cancer Patients and Carers Consultative Group said:

‘The idea for the event came about after so many people shared their experiences with us whilst we were out and about over the summer campaigning for a Cancer Information and Support Centre at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

People’s experiences are important in informing and driving service evaluation and development. We want to ensure that this invaluable information is captured locally and that people have an opportunity to feedback their experiences and views. It doesn’t matter at which Hospital people received their treatment if they live in the area we want to hear from them. ‘

By identifying the issues that impact on the patient / carer experience the Group hopes to encourage Healthcare Services to ensure that the treatment, care and support of cancer patients from Bolton, their families and carers is patient-centred, holistic, of high quality, equable, efficient and effective.

The event which includes a light supper is being sponsored by Bolton LINK. As places are limited people are asked to confirm their attendance by telephoning Karen on 01204 595562 / 07773 164235 or emailing signforacentre@yahoo.co.uk.
